Do You Know What Caused Your Weight Gain?

Stop counting your steps. Stop counting your calories! With successful weight loss, it is important to understand what caused it in the first place. The question I get almost all the time is, “I am trying to lose weight, what should I eat?” That leads me to conclude that you believe you have gained weight because of how you eat.

That may be true, but keep reading. There is more to the story…

For more than 30 years, doctors have recommended low-fat, low-calorie diets as the way to lose weight. Yet, obesity rates steadily continue to increase.

I can safely assume that all of us at one time or another has tried a calorie restricted, low fat diet in order to lose weight. And even after experiencing undesirable results, we continuously seek for that next diet and exercise plan that will finally resolve our weight issues.

Now that we’ve met, I going to encourage you to challenge yourself and begin to think about this differently.

What caused your weight gain? Was it because you ate too much and exercised too little? Were you eating too much of the white foods, such as white flower and white sugar? Was your diet too high in meat and fat?

Possibly…

So if that’s what caused it, wouldn’t exercising more and eating less solve the problem?

Wouldn’t eliminating all the whites, solve the problem?

Wouldn’t becoming vegetarian or vegan solve the problem?

Maybe, to some extent, but ONLY if you are addressing the cause.

You may have done any or all of these and you are either still struggling, hit a plateau, or your weight continues to go up and down.

It’s time to understand that permanent weight loss is beyond eating less and exercising more. It’s about uncovering and removing your chemical, physical and emotional barriers to weight loss.

Yes, understanding what to eat is important, but if you don’t also address the underlying cause or causes of your weight gain, it will continue t be an uphill battle.
