Freedom is in the Process

Freedom is in the process. The process is like planting a seed. A seed doesn’t grow to its full potential until it is planted under the right conditions. Once it’s planted, it must be nurtured, watered, fertilized, and protected from pests and the elements.

Gardening is not a passive process. You can’t just plant the seeds and walk away. It requires work, knowledge, education. You have to know the best season to plant your seeds. You have to nurture it as you watch it grow. You have to protect it from the elements and know what to do if things aren’t growing. If there is an issue, you have to know what caused it and make adjustments. Is the soil the right pH? Are the crops getting enough sunlight? Are they getting enough water? You have to monitor the process daily so that any necessary changes can be made promptly. It takes constant attention and adjustment, but before you know it, you are enjoying the fruits of your labor.

When planting seeds, you may not know what you are doing at first. You have to educate yourself. Learn from professional gardeners. You may make mistakes in the beginning, but as you learn more about proper gardening techniques, your skills will improve over time.

Just as growing a seed takes work, so does renewing your mind. Your mind has to be nurtured. Your mind has to be protected. You have to do the work. You have to set healthy boundaries and protect your mind from negative influences. You have to put in the work. The process is not passive. Passivity is the killer of most dreams. Freedom is in the process.
